Hi. I tried this somewhat last year. I didn't read about it anywhere, just thought that there could be a possibility I could get some free gift card balance on Amazon. I did an easy one $25 to start with

I gave Amazon the s/n of the gift card, and they said the gift card has not been activated in the store. I said it has, I just came back from there, they said that the serial number is not activated so I need to go back to the store
So the next day I went to get another, I tried again and same result

It probably worked before, but not anymore. I've tried this in the UK, not sure about anything else.

1. Obtain a serial code of a gift card. Most tutorials will tell you to go to Ebay or Craigslist etc. You can do that, but it is generally harder than this. Go to a store that sells Amazon giftcards. Take a pic of the back.

2. Contact Amazon (phone or live chat) and say when revealing the code you scratched too hard.

3. They will ask for the serial number, (which is in the bottom right) give it to them.

4. They will credit you the amount that the giftcard was worth.

5. Spend the money.

its not really SE, its more virtual stealing a giftcard from a private person...

Fair enough. But if people call fucking with amazon Social Engineering, the. I guess I can call this it to.

The OP recommended obtaining the serial of a gift card from a store.

The methodology used to credit the gift card Is In fact SEing, however the end result Is theft, that Is obtaining money on false pretenses.
