). After that I'd say the LG Nexus 5. Lineage OS with no Google apps will be good. I did a lot of research on this phone and it doesn't appear to have bad modem isolation. I think Replicant development is a bit dead right now, which is why more devices have not been approved.

Not too much of a phone person but I think the best security is mostly up to the one who is handling the device.

you are right one must ask themselves what do I want to do with my phone. If you want to use it for calls only then a flip phone will do the trick.
If you want a smart phone experience that's a whole other demon. And like you said security will then be up to the user.
