Yuri, Growing up he always enjoyed ice skating. In the beginning it starts out with him and his coach in a tournament were he fails royally, where he returns home and does a skate to relieve stress. The skate he does is his idol’s famous skate. A child records it and it goes viral starting the story.
I originally found out about ユーリ!!! (YOI) due to people at my school talking nothing but about this anime. When I first started watching I thought it would be nothing but cheesy romance/sports show. The reason I thought it would be a bad romance is because all the shipping between Yuri and his Idol, which now after watching. I totally agree (So do the producers). First few episodes I felt awkward as I was confused on how people could get into it but after a bit I fell in-love with the series. The relationship between Victor (Yuri’s Idol) and Yuri is extremely complicated which I hated and loved at the same time. Near the ending I actually nearly… cried. It was adorable and knows how to play with your emotions.
However, I must say ユーリ!!! Has one major flaw. The animation was does fast and is very sloppy and in some places (when paused at the right moment) can have many things missing. The drawing could have been done SO much better if they were not on such a tight schedule, but for a normal watcher you won’t notice much of the flaws. I was just re-watching criticizing the art style.
In the end, ユーリ!!! Is an amazing anime and would recommend it to anyone whom isn’t homophobic. Kept me happy and having many positive feelings about the series for each release. They did an amazing job.
My Rating: 9.8/10 (Remove 0.2 for the art style. It’s not to bad but there is many flaws)
