So I have just caught up to Final Space, and just finished episode 11. In this episode, Clarence reveals that he was wearing a another persons skin the whole time to show that he was a snake rat in disguise. He then later on rips off the skin of the snake rat to reveal that he was actually a giant wasp disguised as a snake rat, and flies away. He then rips off the wasp skin and returns to his original form before meeting Gary's mom to give her the dimensional keys. It was played up as a joke, but I genuinely think Clarence might be some sort of shape-shifter. It is possible that he is wearing someone else's skin, but the wings on the wasp functioned normally, and the skins he wore all fitted perfectly unlike the skins he gave Gary. It all seems too convenient.
