[TV Show Review] Burn Notice

#1

Burn Notice
Action, Crime, Drama

What is it about?
Spies don't get fired; they get burned. Michael Westen has received a "burn notice". Dumped in his hometown of Miami, Florida, he's been left in the cold with no money, no job and no information. He becomes a private eye with the skills he picked up as an intelligence operative. With the help of his old friend, the drinking, womanizing Sam Axe, and his gun-running, trigger-happy ex-girlfriend Fiona, he makes people's problems go away. But when he's done, Michael's biggest problem becomes finding out who burned him and trying to get back into the game.
Why do you recommend it?

The prospect of getting fired, no means to support yourself and not having anyone willing to help you, is a nightmare scenario for any of us. Throw in the fact that everyone is a potential assassin, the crime you were accused of, the one you were fired for, was created by your very own government and they are the ones hiring the assassins...you now have "Burn Notice"

The show is well planned, well written and the acting is transparent (perfect). It is easy to get lost in the constant action an think this is your typical show, however Jeffrey Donovan's character Michael Westen isn't your typical "kill everyone and let God sort them out" Spy. He thinks things through trying NOT to kill anyone and tells you why and that is smart. The character is educating you and it makes it fun, as if you are part of the show. The character is thoughtful and keeps cool in the most extreme situations. His "out of the box creative thinking" is what keeps me coming back. When the Gov. agent comes and messes with his friends and family, he keeps calm, plays the game and in the end they end up working for Michael.

The supporting characters are believable and the portraying actors sell the parts. It's a nice surprise to have a show that doesn't treat you like you're an idiot.

Check it out for yourself.
